CASTLEGRAM
The Voice of the Manor
Summer 2024
Dear Homeowners,
Good news! At long last our completely renovated, modernized, state of the art and absolutely beautiful indoor pool and spa is open! Many thanks to the Board, especially Don Kershan and Nic Ceo for overseeing this project and working closely with the contractors, and Chief Engineer Jim Hackett for day-to-day project management. Many thanks also to our General Manager Janice Nessel, and our Comptroller Jessica Castro who both waded through the paperwork, ie permits, contracts, riders, environmental regs, invoices etc., etc., to keep everything moving smoothly.
To give our homeowners and rental guests maximum opportunity to enjoy the new indoor pool and spa, the facility is open daily 10 AM to 10 PM. The outdoor pool is also open daily 10 AM to 7 PM and for those who like to cool off in the ocean, The Manor provides a van plus a bus at no cost to and from the beach. For those who prefer to stay dry, you can enjoy a cool drink at Monty’s Bar in the lobby and a meal in the restaurant. Monty’s is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner during the Summer season.
The June weather in Montauk has been about as good as it gets. The grounds around The Manor plus the courtyard landscaping are in full bloom with seasonal flowers of all kinds, and the sunsets from the great lawn and patio sofas are most brilliant in the summer. If you haven’t made your summer reservations yet, now is the time!
So far this year the Board of Managers has met on February 24th, April 6th, April 13th, June 1st and June 22nd. Some of the matters discussed were repairs of leaks, the upcoming budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1st, and new construction projects. Among the projects in the planning stage are repair of the parking lot pillars, repair and painting of the stucco courtyard walls, reviewing all hallways, finishing the roof, purchasing a new “bus” (the large van), and creating pickle ball courts, etc. The full construction reports, rental reports and minutes from every Board of Managers meeting are on the Montauk Manor website. Just sign in to the homeowner’s page.
The Rental Committee met on February 8th for a full day meeting during which time they visited units in the Rental Program to make certain that all are maintaining the standards of the program and will be ready for the Summer Season. The Rental Committee usually meets as needed during the off season to develop strategies in marketing the program as a destination for vacationers.
All indications are that this will be an exciting summer in Montauk and at The Manor. The Board of Managers hopes to see all homeowners take some time this summer to enjoy your “home away from home” at Montauk Manor.
Sincerely,
The Board of Managers
