Samson Occom & the Great Awakening: Lecture and Hymn Singalong featuring Hugh King

June 24 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

At Second House Museum:

The inimitable Hugh King will tell the fascinating story of Samson Occom, the Mohegan preacher who was converted to Christianity during the Great Awakening to become one of the first Native Americans to be ordained a Presbyterian Minister. Find out about Occom’s dramatic life of highs and lows, from his triumphant preaching tour through England in the 1760s, to his return to America, where he lived during the Revolutionary War, and his subsequent life and works among the “Christian Indians” of New England and Long Island.  This event is FREE, but capacity is limited, so we ask you kindly to RSVP below.
